How Reservation Page Works

The numbers below the skipper's name indicate that he or she is being a Fleet Captain (i.e. inviting other members to join them) and show how many crew spots are still available.  Skippers are not required to give the names of everyone that is sailing with them, and are not required to take four other members out.  Thus, if there is no number below a skipper's name, then there is no space on that boat, despite the fact that there may not be four crew members listed.

"Fleet Captain Needed" means that there is no skipper assigned to that boat yet.  Skippers often show up at the dock asking if any members would like to go out.  Crew that are on "Fleet Captain Needed" status will be assigned to boats in the order that their reservations were received.

Reservation Policies & Cancellations

Reservation Rules - Please remember, we share boats. To make sure everyone has an opportunity to sail, here are the reservation rules:
Skippers are allowed only one reservation on the book at any time (Fleet Captain reservations exempted)
Crew are allowed only one Fleet Captain reservation on the books at any time.

Cancellations - Fleet Captain Sails (new policy).  A member that does not show up takes an opportunity to sail from another member and inconveniences fellow crew.  Cancellations can be made by sending an email to dockmaster@myc.org or by calling the club at 212-786-3323.  Any member who signs up for sailing but does not show up without canceling the reservation will be assessed a five dollar charge.

Morning and Afternoon Sails.  Cancellations must be received before 4 p.m. of the previous day.

Evening Sails. Cancellations must be received before noon of the same day.

Cancellations will not be required if it is actually raining at North Cove in the three hours before the sail is scheduled, though note that many skippers are willing to sail in rain, provided it is not a thunderstorm, and will still welcome crew.  Cancellations are also not required if your boat says "Fleet Captain Needed" on the day of the sail.
